“The technology improves the life”, how many times do we hear this claim? Surely the technological progress brought many advantages to our lifes. We just have to think that without the technology we won’t have the possibility to keep in touch with distance persons or that the production machines are now essential in every industrial field. The technology makes everything easier, it is always ready to support every our action, from the productive and economic processes to the daily life. But did we think if the technology could reduce the poverty? Answer to this question will mean find out how much the technology can help us. Yes, it can appear astonishing but the technology, especially the spacial technology, can contribute to ensure the basic needs. The spacial technology for example can help to ensure that everyone have access to food and clean water, to avoid the wildlife’s extinction and to support extreme emergency’s situations.
The essential spacial technologies
In the space we have some spacial technology’s services that can help a lot to achieve important targets:
The communication’s satellites: they give access to telephone and web’s services almost everywhere in the Earth. This is really important during emergency’s periods. We can explain it by speaking about the typhoon Haiyan’s case, which when hit the Philippines, damaged the local communication’s webs that were repaired by teams that introduced inflatable communication’s antennes linked to the satellites. This was really useful to guarantee the communication in a huge emergency’s situation.
The placement’s satellites: they say where we are. The scientists can use this technology to track the endagered wildlife. For example, an endagered tartle can be equipped with a system that allows to receive informations about its position and then send those informations to the scientists through the communication’s satellites. The scientists can use those knowledges to prepare a better plan about how it is possible to keep alive the endagered wildlife.
The satellites for the Earth’s observation: they tell us what’s happening on our planet. At the moment, there are around 150 satellites managed by over 60 governatives agencies. Some of them give pictures that show what you can easily see from a camera, but about our planet. By the way, the biggest part of the satellites for the Earth’s observation don’t do just this but they acquired measures and they combine those measures with complex computerized models, realizing amazing viewings. Those elaborations are able to show, for example, the ocean currents, globally. It is possible to observe the smoke or the dust in the atmosphere, or the rainfalls and the snowfalls, as the annual cycle of terrestrial and oceanic vegetation. The scientists so, are able to acquire the informations about the rainfalls and about the vegetation and use them to understand which areas on the Earth are in danger of famine or drought and then give those informations to the humanitarian organisations so to let them operate in those areas with food supplies before that the famine came.
Benefits from the space
In the space, furthermore, there is a real laboratory in orbit. The vehicle and everything is inside it are in free fall around the Earth. This condition is called “microgravity” and when the astronauts are inside it, their bodies react like if they are getting older faster. Their bones and their muscles become weaker, their cardiovascular and immune system change. While the scientists study how to keep the astronauts heatlhy in the space, those studies are useful from people on the Earth too that try those sympthoms with the purpose to improve the global health. Basically, while we develop the spacial technology for the astronauts, we can use those inventions on our planet to largely improve the life on the Earth.
The space is an infinite source of inspiration, through the education, the research and the astronomy, which is that ancient art to observe the stars. The countries of the whole world are involved to improve the develop of the spacial technology, starting point for a better future.
