Even Huawei, in order to bring itself into line with the trends of the moment, it decided to point on a design with reduced frames to leave as much space as possible to the display. Let’s add a photographic segment with excellent performances and you will obtain the Huawei P20 Pro that in this article we will tell.
Huawei is a relatively new company that in the last years was able to reach a high level of fame, by consolidating its presence on the marketplace. Ever more experts suggest to rely on this chinese company that in Italy already have the 20% of the marketplace.
If Samsung is still far away to be reach, Apple isn’t so much and it isn’t to exclude that already during the 2019 there will be an overtaking.
Design
The device’s design is in line with the one of Apple which proposed with the iPhone X‘s gamma. The screen is along all the four edges, leaving a small opaque fragment up to give space to the segment of the front camera, the speaker and the sensors.
This fragment is called notch. By the way, like said often by Huawei, it is a notch with less extention compared with the Apple competitors, allowing to have a screen that better use the space, besides that a sweeter design.
Display
The display is of 6.1” and it is covered by a Gorilla Glass with a lightly curve on the edges. On the lower edges there is the fingerprints’ reader that works at the same time as Home botton. It isn’t a real botton, but a display’s region designed for this function.
This choice contributed to allow Huawei to obtain an IP67 qualification for its smartphone, making it water and dust proof.
Considering the general characteristics of the device, at the moment iis one of the smartphone that gives really reduced sizes compared with the display’s size.
Edges
The edge of the Huawei P20 Pro is chromated (satin on P20), lightly rounded and it is 7,8 mm thick. On the bottom we find the USB door – Type C to charge the battery of the smartphone, and the speaker. To the left there is the switching on botton with the balance for the volume’s regulation.
To the rigth there is the cart for the SIM’s insertion. We need to considere that it is possible to insert two SIM cards, because it is a device Dual SIM. On the top we find an infrared sensor, while on the back there are three cameras Leica and the flash, of which we further speak in the article “Stunning shots with the new Huawei P20 Pro“.
Colorings
Huawei P20 Pro is available in four colorings: Rose Gold, Midnight Blue, Black and Twilight. The back body is mirrored, reason for which from a side the coloring, whatever it is, makes a pleasant effect, but from the other side the device is more vulnerable to the fingerprints and the dust. For this reason it is suggested a cover.
Hardware
The platform on which is focused the Huawei P20 Pro is called SoC Kirin 970, it is a calculate’s unit octa-core that is composed of two CPU: Cortex A73 of 2,36 Ghz and Cortex A53 of 1,8 Ghz. The memory RAM is 6GB.
Face recognition
The face recognition works really well, but the tests revealed that this is limitated to the conditions of high or medium lightness. Anyway, this doesn’t seem to be a problem due to the fact that on theis device remained the fingerprints sensors, surely more practical.
Audio
The audio of this smartphone is between the best ones. The sound is stereo and it is due to the speaker on the bottom and of the one on the top which is used while calling. The only flaw: there isn’t the jack audio. This won’t be pleasant for the users, but we can get used with it. The adapter USB-C – Jack 2.5mm is present in the box.
