The Studio Ghibli conquers Netflix

On Netflix, since february, here you have arriving the movies of the Studio Ghibli. Netflix infact bought 21 movies of the master Hayo Miyazaki and all the countries, unless Japan, United States and Canada, will have free access to them.

The Studio Ghibli is now close, even because the only founding member which is still alive is right Hayo Miyazaki that though is now 80 years old and he’s retired (even if once opened back the Studio to surprisly produc his last movie “The wind rises”).

The studio Ghibli is on Netflix since february

The first trance of movie was released right this week end and it’s composed by seven titles:

Laputa – Castle in the Sky (1986)
My neighbor Totoro (1988)
Kiki’s Delivery Service (1989)
Only Yesterday (1991)
Porco Rosso (1992)
Ocean Waves (1993)
Tales From Earthsea (2006)

Laputa is the first movie of the study since its foundation, on the island of Laputa we met everything: flying pirates and steampunk robots. Surely it’s noteworthy even the cartoon My neighbor Totoro, a sensitive story filled with magic, perfect for the youngest ones, that saw the birth of one of the symbol of the studio: which is rigth Totoro.

Kiki’s Delivery Service instead tells about the first travel of a young witch, funny and easy-going even this one is perfect for a really young audience. Porco Rosso takes place in Italy and it tells about Marco Pagot, an ace of the aeronautic transformed in a pig, this is for an older audience.

Only Yesterday is instead is headed by Isao Takahata and it might be a movie, it tells about the thoughts of the protagonist about the life and the choises made that led her be like this.

The choice of the movies of march

Since the first march we will be able to see a new trance with other seven titles:

Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984)
Princess Mononoke (1997)
My neighbors The Yamada (1999)
Spirited Away (2001)
The Cat Returns (2002)
Arrietty (2010)
The Tale of the Princess Kaguya (2013)

Even if Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind was released before the creation of the studio Ghibli, it is included in their works because it was the movie that encouraged them to the creation of the studio. It takes place in a post-apocalyptic world and it sees Nausicaä, the daugther of the king of the Valley of the Wind, that tries to understand if it’s possible to live together with the giant insects that are invading their lands.

Spirited Away is maybe one of the most famous title of the studio Ghibli, it won even an Oscar in the 2003. It tells about a girl that, while the parents are distracted, she arrives in a world populated by spirits and creatures and she tries everything to come back to her parents. Be careful though because it might scare the youngest ones.

The selection of april of the movies of Miyazaki

Finally in april will be released the last seven movies of the Studio Ghibli:

Howl’s moving castle (2004)
Ponyo (2008)
From Up on Poppy hill (2011)
The Wind Rises (2013)
When Marnie was there (2014)

The Howl’s moving castle is a story inspired to the omonimous romance of Diana Wynne Jones, a tale that takes place in a magic and steampunk world: the young Sophie will be, becuase of a spell, in the shoes of an old woman and so she will serve the powerful and fascinating Howl.

Ponyo is a cartoon mainly created for the children, a tale that sees a little fish become human because she loved a boy. The Wind Arises talks again about aeronautic, which is the passion of Miyazaki, and it is the last movie of the filmmaker.

From the selection are still missed some titles but it’s not sure that Netflix sooner or later will release them too.
