The producers of the flexible and ultra thin screens of last generation are really indulging their imagination: here you have the most curious applications.
Flexible screens on exhibition in Las Vegas
The foldable mobile phone is a moonshot followed since some years by the producers of technological systems. Apart from the technical interest, the flexible screens have infact the quality to satisfy the hunger of news of the customers.
The big companies were so launched in the research, to create a model that can be put in commerce, with a price affordable for the big audience.
After many proofs and many prototypes, to win the race was unexpectedly a small company, the Royole, which is specialized in flexible screens. To the occasion of the CES (Consumer Technology Association) shows in Las Vegas, the Royole infact presented already in the November of the 2019 the first foldable phone called FlexPai.
After it there are Samsung, with the Galaxy Fold and Huawei, while the projects of Apple strangly seem to remain in the background.
The lens screen by Apple and the augmented reality
Why Apple is mysteriously getting late in the race to the development of the flexible screen, maybe it can be explained with the fact that it has other projects.
The leakes of the web suggest infact that Apple is focusing itself on the creation of Apple Glass, which are glasses that allow to check the surrounding environment and, between the functions of augmented reality, to transform every surface into a possible screen.
The ultra thin screen on the lens of the glasses will allow to view an interface composed by icones, while every flat surface will become a screen too.
In the text of the patent request, Apple talks about a “device for the contact detection between at least a first and a second object”. The glasses will so join the usage of a camera and of an infrared ray.
The infrared will detect the place where we pushed the finger, and it will be so considered as a clic to launch the application.
Advertising screens on the t-shirt of the referee
Royole is a specialist in the flexible screens and already in the 2012 it presented its first prototype that measured only 0,01 millimeters of thickness. With a curvature ray of a millimeter, its technology Flexible+ can be integrated in many products.
Royole joined infact the efforts with the producer of sportif equippments Tūta to create t-shirts that have flexible screens as advertising display.
The flexible screens on the t-shirts of the players and of the referee are already a reality and they were worn by the referees during the matches of the basket league Hoptrans 3×3 of the FIBA. The display of the t-shirts is controlled by an application and it can be moved and changed in every moment.
The web site of the company has already even hats and t-shirts where the same kind flexible screens can be put.
“Our flexible and ultrathin screens are strong and efficient. They are so perfect to be used on the clothes.”
Bill Liu, Royole General Director
This technology is a new niche for the advertising marketplace and it can find even many other uses.
