Disney Speedstorm is a new arcade racing game inspired by Disney and Pixar worlds, featuring beloved characters battling it out on high-speed tracks. It’s been over a year since the announcement, and finally, Gameloft has released the first trailer of the game, resembling Mario Kart but with Disney characters. Additionally, the early access release date has been revealed: April 18, 2023. Available for pre-order on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. Once the early access period is over, you’ll be able to get a series of bonuses. For others, the game will be free-to-play later on, isn’t that great news?
Disney Speedstorm: the free-to-play arrival
It’s a dynamic arcade racing game where you can use various characters, including: Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Mulan, Goofy, Belle, Beast, Jack Sparrow, and many others. Of course, each character has their own abilities that can be exploited during the race. Among the various game options, there are two interesting modes: cross-play and cross-save. Also, you can play solo or in multiplayer mode, challenging your friends.
The game versions available in the store from April 18 for pre-order are: Standard Founder’s Pack, Deluxe Founder’s Pack, and Ultimate Founder’s Pack. Let’s take a closer look at what they contain and their prices.
The first version is the Standard, priced at €29.99, and includes various bonuses and three characters: Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, and one of your choice. Additionally, 4000 Tokens (in-game currency), 2 Golden Pass credits granting access to premium seasonal rewards. Plus, you’ll get the exclusive Founder’s racing suit and kart livery. And, the exclusive founder’s motto and avatar.
As for the Deluxe version, which costs €49.99, unlike the Standard, you will have Mulan in addition to the three characters (Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and one of your choice). 7000 Tokens and all other items are the same as the standard version.
Then we have the Ultimate version, priced at €69.99. You’ll get access to six drivers: Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Mulan, Captain Jack Sparrow, and Hercules, plus one of your choice. A total of 12,000 Tokens in-game currency and three Golden Pass credits. Wheels and wings for Donald Duck’s kart, and everything else like in the standard version.
The bonuses obtained in the pre-order grant access to two content items: Toontech Early Bird, the livery of Donald Duck’s kart, and Early Bird, Donald Duck’s racing suit.
Gameplay and news
The gameplay offers both single-player and multiplayer modes. Up to 8 players can join. The game’s structure is very similar to that of Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled and Mario Kart, with dynamic 3D graphics. Each player can find power-ups during the race that allows them to attack opponents or defend themselves. There will also be boosts to increase speed, and you can dive into drifts on the wildest tracks.
A few days before the early access release, Gameloft announced the addition of a new character: the purple dragon Figment.
After the game’s official launch, seasonal content, new tracks, new characters, and collectibles will be released. We’re sure this game will be entertaining, and we can’t wait to try it. Personally, I think it’s going to be a lot of fun, and I’m looking forward to challenging my friends.
